Drupal to be represented at OpenSource World (and more!) In Japan

The Japanese community is representing Drupal at OpenSource World, which takes place in Tokyo in July.

This is exciting news especally for Japanese Drupallers, as there has previously been no active offline communities in Japan that could represent Drupal at such events.

Following (probably) the first meetup in Tokyo in April this year, members at groups.drupal.org/japan have been actively collaborating to make this happen. They will also be representing Drupal at a series of Open Source conferences that will take place in different parts of Japan.

For these events, they have produced their custom Drupal logos (example - scroll up / down in the linked page to see more), as well as a handout based on what was created by the UK community (download from here), which looks like this:

I have been pleasantly surprised by the number of 'hidden' Drupallers in Japan as well as their enthusiasm and energy / synergy. Drupal has not been the most popular CMS in Japan so far, but with collaborative efforts of the members, I'm certain it will quickly gain momentum.

Well done people!! This is really amazing!

(Note: I'm also a member of the group, but I'm based in UK. Because of the distance, I have not been able to contribute much so it seems more appropriate to write about the community in third person.)

Bravo!

Mori, nice work helping the Japanese Drupal community to go from an ember to a flame.

I'm really looking forward to one day going to DrupalCon Japan ;-)

Thanks Mori

After reading your blog's content, I have a better knowledge of DRUPAL. I want to become a web consultant and developer specialised in Drupal like you.

Consider that I've already started it!!!

Thanks, I'll sometimes visit your site. Let's stay in touch.
